Shooting in Chicago leaves 3 injured; suspect in custody

Chicago police said Tuesday that at least three people were shot including a suspect involved in a robbery, during a gun violence incident in the North Lawndale neighbourhood late Monday.

The suspect was only a 16-year-old who attempted to rob two people ages 34 and 50, at about 10:02pm in the 3800 block of West Roosevelt Road, reported ABC7 Chicago.

According to the local officials, there was also another person who was involved in shooting with the boy however that armed person ran away from the scene.

Chicago police stated that the 34-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound on his neck while the 50-year-old was shot in the wrist.

Authorities also said that the suspected robber was shot in his leg. All the injured were taken to the hospitals where their condition was termed as good.

The officials later took the 16-year-old boy into their custody and recovered a firearm.

Separately, officers in Conroe, Texas shot and killed a person who attempted to sexually assault a woman in a house in the 14710 block of Callard Court, Tuesday.

The officers from the Conroe Police Department received reports of an assault around midnight and found a woman screaming as she was held by the armed man with a gun on her head, said Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon.

Earlier that day, officials with HPD, the Department of Public Safety, and the Harris County Sheriff's Office fatally shot a person reported to be involved in a serial robbery.

According to HPD Chief Troy Finner, police had been watching the suspect since about 6pm because he was believed to have been involved in multiple robberies across the Houston area.

His final crime that night was a liquor store robbery, where the clerks were held at gunpoint in Oak Ridge North, in Montgomery County, Finner said according to ABC13.
