X, formerly Twitter, owner Elon Musk has rejected reports that former US president Donald Trump sought donations for his campaign when the two met in Florida earlier this month, reported Business Insider.

In an interview with former CNN anchor, Don Lemon, which was released Monday, the tech billionaire said that their meeting was not pre-planned, rather was a coincidence.

"I was at a breakfast at a friend's place, and Donald Trump came by. That's it," Musk said.

Lemon then asked the Tesla owner what did the two talk about in their "chance" encounter.

At this, Trump said: "Let's just say he did most of the talking [...] I don't recall him saying anything that he hasn't said publicly."

"I'm not paying his legal bills in any way, shape or form … and he did not ask me for money."

At the fundraiser event where Trump and Musk met, several rich Republican donors were present, The New York Times had reported.

After the news broke that they met, Musk categorically announced that he would not be supporting any candidate through funds.

In the interview, he made it clear once mroe that he would not be donating to anyoner, but would endorse a candidate before the November 5 presidential elections.

"While I'll voice my opinion, I don't want to put a thumb on the scale monetarily," he said.
