LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) has principally decided to replace the incumbent Punjab Governor Sardar Latif Khosa with a political personality as part of its pre-poll strategy, Geo News reported.

Sources said that Makhdum Ahmed Mehmood, an MPA from Rahim Yar Khan and President of Punjab chapter of Pakistan Muslim League- Functional (PML-F) would take charge as new governor.

The sources said that the decision was taken during Mehmood’s meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari which was also attended by former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in Karachi. They said that Mehmood was expected to be sworn in on Saturday.

According to the sources, no decision has been taken regarding Latif Khosa's fate so far. They said that Gilani played a key role in the decision to change the Punjab governor.
