Mathew McConaughey revisited the past to talk about his unexpected bond with Kate Hudson for How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

The 54-year-old actor got candid with People magazine and revealed that He and Kate hit it off from the beginning, even before he was cast for the beloved rom-com.

“I remember we met on the Paramount lot”, he said unveiling that the duo met on a ‘sort of casting’ couch, that is meant to “see the chemistry between the two leads” for a rom-com movie.

“[They] want to see how the jive is. We’re not reading through the script. We’re not reading lines.”

However, the meeting took an unexpected turn as he recalled, “Immediately, we were comfortable with each other, and we jacked with each other, and we busted each other’s chops, and we laughed a lot.”

The Dallas Buyers Club actor weighed in on the dynamics of their first exchange and said, “There was a bit of rock and roll, like ‘Oh this could be some heavyweight fun.’ And I think that’s why I was cast, and that’s why for whatever extent it worked.”

For those unversed, the beloved 2003 comedy follows the story of a journalist Andie Anderson (Kate) who takes on a little assignment to write an article on how to lose a guy in 10 days.

On the contrary, Ben Berry (Mathew) places a silly bet on making a woman fall in love with him in 10 days.

Chaos ensues and intentions go awry when the two main leads cross paths.
