Taylor Swift's latest album, The Tortured Poets Department has recorded the best opening week for any album in the past nine years.

Released on April 19, the album quickly amassed 2.61 million streams, a feat not seen since Adele's 25 in 2015.

As per Variety report, it also recorded 891.37 million on-demand streams, surpassing the former record held by Drake’s Scorpion, which had 745.92 million streams in its debut week back in 2018.

The success of The Tortured Poets Department breaks Swift's prior records, including 1989 (Taylor’s Version) which had 1.653 million units in its first week last October, and Midnights, which saw 1.578 million units at the end of 2022.

The Tortured Poets Department not only excelled in digital formats but also in physical sales, selling 1.914 million copies in its first week.

The album also set records in the vinyl market, selling 859,000 copies in its first week, the most of any album in the modern era.

Taking to Instagram and X, the Cruel Summer singer expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans, stating in caption, "My mind is blown. I’m completely floored by the love you’ve shown this album. 2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS?? Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed."
