Billy Joel gets cut off during special broadcast Fans react

Billy Joel’s 100th Madison Square Garden residency show was just broadcasted as a special on the night of April 14, 2024.

During the performance’s broadcast his song Piano Man, was cut off which led to many fans being outraged.

Different users took to their official X, formerly Twitter, accounts to post about their sentiments after Joel’s show was not aired completely.

“After CBS making the Billy Joel televised concert late because of golf, the local news just cut off PIANO MAN !!!! I cannot even!!! You had three minutes. That’s it!! I sat through two hours and you cut off his signature song!” a fan penned.

According to Billboard, the two-hour special also underwent a delay due to CBS covering the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia, live.

As a result, to resume back its coverage, the network cut the end of Joel's performance to switch back to local news.

Billy Joel's 100th residency concert was originally held in the New York City on March 28.

The performance was filmed a special to be aired on CBS on the night of April 14, titled, The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden – The Greatest Arena Run of All Time.
