The full moon of April 2024, the Pink Moon, will be seen in the night skies across the world on Wednesday and in the early hours of Thursday, Space reported.

This year, the Pink Moon which will appear in the eastern part of the United States on the evening of April 23 at 7:39pm Eastern Daylight Time, will also be accompanied by planets Mars and Saturn.

Both planets will rise in the pre-dawn hours later that night.

Additionally, the Pink Moon holds significance in many cultures around the world.

Apparently, the name of the moon does not have anything to do with its colour because, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac, it comes from the bloom of ground phlox, a pink flower common in North America.

It is also called the Sprouting Grass Moon, Egg Moon and Fish Moon.

A full moon occurs when the moon is directly opposite the sun from the Earth's perspective. The moon's phase is determined by its position relative to Earth, so the timing of the Pink Moon's appearance depends on where you are.

So, when will different cities view the Pink Moon 2024?

London — The moon will reach its maximum phase at 11:49pm local time.
