Hugh Grant excites ‘Bridget Jones’ fans with new update: ‘Has me in tears’

Hugh Grant just stirred anticipation among Bridget Jones fans as he shared what excited him the most about returning to the beloved movie franchise.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, the 63-year-old actor praised the script of the upcoming instalment and branded it as the ‘best one’ yet.

Confirming the adaptation of the 2013 novel Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, he remarked, “I'll tell you what, I think this script for the fourth Bridget is the best one of the four. And, in fact, one of the best scripts I have read for in a long time”.

Notable to mention that Grant took a brief break from the film series as he decided not to return for 2016’s Bridget Jones’s Baby with his character written out as dead.

However, the end of the movie hinted otherwise with a newspaper headline suggesting he was found alive.

It is also pertinent to mention that avid readers may remember the plot involving Mark Darcy’s death (portrayed by Colin Firth) early in the 2013 book, and the Love Actually actor’s recent comment seemingly confirms the movie will follow the same plotline.

He shared, “It's based on trying to bring up two children alone”, before adding, "It’s very sad, as well as very funny. It has me in tears”.

With the omission of Firth’s casting, Renée Zellweger will reprise her titular role along with newcomers including Chiwetel Ejiofor of Doctor Strange and Leo Woodall of The White Lotus.
