Jimmy Fallon’s spirited performance at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade has sparked mixed reactions, with insiders defending the Tonight Show host, saying that he was simply “going overboard” to entertain the crowd.

The 50-year-old comedian performed Hey Rudy alongside his band, The Roots, on a stream train float.

However, the viewers criticized his use of sunglasses in the rain and a microphone mishap that highlighted his lip-syncing.

According to Daily Mail, despite the backlash, Fallon is “unfazed by the criticism.”

Moreover, the publication reported that “Jimmy is not embarrassed about people commenting on his appearance or performance. The only person people seem to be talking about from the parade is him, and he hopes this attention boosts album sales during the holiday season.”

Additionally, critics took to social media to call out Fallon’s apparent lip-syncing microphone blunder as one of the users wrote, “Jimmy Fallon with the worst case of lip syncing ever” while another user joked about his sunglasses by saying, “Big hangover energy America can relate to today.”

While responding to the critics, the outlet reported that Fallon’s lighthearted approach was intentional.

In regards to this, a source claimed, “He’s an entertainer and just had fun. If people think it was a disaster or he was hungover, that’s on them,” while emphasizing that the performance was rehearsed with sunglasses as part of the act.

Furthermore, this year marked Fallon's 11th appearance at the parade and coincided with the release of his Christmas album, Holiday Seasoning, which has climbed to No.2 on Billboard’s Top Holiday Albums chart.
