Charles Shyer, the Oscar-nominated director and writer, has passed away at the age of 83.
On December 27, 2024, Shyer died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles following a brief illness.
The Father of the Bride director's death was confirmed by his daughter director Hallie Meyers-Shyer to The Hollywood Reporter.
Additionally, she also shared a photo of Shyer on Instagram Stories later. In the caption simply writing, "1941-2024 A complete original."
In a joint statement, Shyer’s family told Deadline, “It’s with an indescribably heavy heart that we share the news of our beloved father Charles Shyer’s passing.”
"His loss leaves an unfillable hole in our lives, but his legacy lives on through his children and the five decades of wonderful work he’s left behind. We honor the extraordinary life he led and know there will never be another quite like him," they added further.
Shyer was widely recognised with his work in Hollywood like directing beloved films such as Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, and Irreconcilable Differences.
On the other hand, his latest projects include writing for The Noel Diary (2022) and Best Christmas Ever! (2023).
