Rod Stewart recalled the time he was diagnosed with cancer.
The legendary music icon remembered how his "palms went cold" after hearing the distressing news.
However, the Maggie May hitmaker has not only made incredible recovery, he celebrated his 80th birthday this year and is also going on a world tour.
Admitting how Sir Rod realizes that things could’ve gone south after he was diagnosed. "The following day, I went back to the hospital and underwent a biopsy. Under a local anaesthetic, part of the affected area was removed using a needle and taken away for analysis,” he mentioned in his autobiography.
He further recalled, "And the day after that, I got a call at home, which I took standing up and which made my palms go cold. The results of the tests indicated that the 'something' on my thyroid gland was a malignant growth: cancer."
Sir Rod Stewart’s diagnosis came after he went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, for a routine check-up, where he initially claimed that he was as "fit as a butcher's dog".
He was called into the doctor’s office after several tests because something had been detected in his thyroid gland, about which the Young Turks crooner noted that such news would "really do it to you."
After undergoing a successful operation and not needing chemotherapy, meaning that he wouldn’t go bald, Sir Rod Stewart joked that it would’ve been a career-ending threat "second only" to losing his voice.
