Veteran Haas wins Munich at 10th attempt
MUNICH, Germany: Evergreen German Tommy Haas beat defending champion Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets on Sunday to win the Munich claycourt title for the first time at the 10th attempt, 13 years after
his first appearance in the final.

Haas needed just 82 minutes to seal his 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) win over compatriot Kohlschreiber and pick up the 14th title of his career to become the first 35-year-old to win an ATP tournament since 2008.

Haas in enjoying an Indian summer and on Monday will be ranked 13th in the world, having reached a career-high of second back in 2002

Having struggled with injuries in recent years, Haas' is yet to win a Grand Slam, but reached the semi-finals of Wimbledon back in 2009 and beat Roger Federer in last year's grass-court final at Halle.

This was Haas' fourth win on home soil having twice won in Halle and once in Stuttgart. (AFP)
