Shōgun has already become a darling of the award season, winning several awards for its first season.

Now, the FX show won Best International series at the BAFTA TV Awards. In his acceptance speech, showrunner Justin Marks highlighted how the series was made with global cooperation.

“You have a bunch of Americans who got together with a bunch of Europeans and a bunch of Japanese and made a show in Canada, and now we are standing here on stage in England,” the creator added.

He continued, “That we are on stage is truly a testament to the spirit of grand international collaboration that our crew of 3,000 people espoused."

"It’s a spirit that is sadly disappearing from the world right now. Thank you, BAFTA… for honoring this idea that good television is truly a borderless nation," the showrunner noted.

Meanwhile, the shooting of the much-anticipated season two will start in Vancouver in January 2026.

Details about the plot are limited. However, the events of the second season will take place after a decade of what happened in season one.
