Sean “Diddy” Combs’ high-profile case just had its recent development, with the defense delivering their opening statement following the prosecution.

Diddy’s defense delivers opening statement:

The lawyer for Diddy who delivered the defense opening statement was Teny Geragoes who said, “Sean Combs is a complicated man, but this is not a complicated case.”

“This case is about love, jealousy, infidelity and money,” she clarified, arguing that the alleged victims loved Diddy and text messages would prove that.

Even though the defense admitted that the disgraced music mogul does have a history of violence and a short temper, that does not prove the allegations of sex trafficking, transportation for prostitution or racketeering conspiracy.

“There has been a tremendous amount of noise around this case over the past year,” Geragoes said, adding, “it is time to cancel that noise.”

Taking aim at the prosecution’s statement of Diddy being “larger than life” she told the jury, “No one gave him a dime,” according to The New York Times.

Humanizing the rapper and toning his rather infamous reputation down in the court of law, she told the jurors that even though many would refer to him as “Puff Daddy,” or “P. Diddy” or “Diddy,” but in the courtroom he will be addressed “by the same name he was born with: Sean Combs.”

Prosecution introduces witnesses:

After their opening statement, the prosecution introduced some of the witnesses for the Diddy trial.

They introduced Cassie Ventura, the rapper’s longtime ex, Jane, a pseudonym for the single mom who spent time with Diddy in 2020, and Mia, a separate pseudonym for the former employee of his.

The New York Times reported that prosecutors assured Mia would eventually testify that Diddy “forced himself on her sexually,” including forcing her to perform oral sex and sneaking into her bed to “penetrate her against her will.”

Diddy case prosecutors' opening:

The defense’s opening statement came after assistant US Attorney Emily Johnson labelled Diddy “larger than life” who had “another side to him, a side that ran a criminal enterprise.”

She made claims that the music executive “didn’t do it alone,” explaining that “he had an inner circle of bodyguards and high-ranking employees who helped him commit crimes and cover them up.”

Prosecution and defense in the Diddy case:

The prosecution of the Diddy case has eight assistant US attorneys with the opening statement delivered by prosecutor Emily Johnson.

While Sean “Diddy” Combs has hired seven attorneys being led by the New York lawyer Marc Agnifilo, with Teny Geragoes delivering the opening statement for the defense.
