Diddy and Cassie's breakup texts come to light

Sean "Diddy" Combs' team presented text messages on the fifth day of his high-profile criminal trial, sharing a glimpse of the emotional dynamics of the rapper's 11-year relationship with Cassie Ventura in its final days.

“Can I not get a chance to make things right?” Combs wrote to Ventura in 2018 around the time of their final breakup. “I haven’t taken care of you?”

“You took care of me materialistically, not where I needed it,” Ventura replied. “I needed you to love me and put me first.”

Ventura is one of the first women to publicly accuse Combs of abuse.

Her testimony comes after the disgraced rapper previously settled a lawsuit she filed in November 2023 alleging years of physical violence and rape.

Yet, the Bad Boy Records founder found himself at the centre of controversy with a wave of additional civil cases against him followed by a federal investigation on a broader scale.
