Prince William mocked over FA Cup final attendance

Prince William was mocked by an anti-monarchy group after a British journalist on Friday said that the Prince of Wales will attend the FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Manchester City on Saturday.

Commenting on journalist Richard Palmer's post on X, Republic commented, "Anchor football match he'll put down as work."

The tweet seemed to refer to criticism William often draws from some royal fans who often target the Prince of Wales for what they see as his lackluster interest in royal duties.

Meanwhile,  William, who is the patron of the Football Association, was on the field before kickoff on Saturday.

William and his eldest son Prince George are devoted Aston Villa fans, whose team was defeated by Palace in the semifinals. Prince George did not join his father for the final match.
