Elisabeth Moss reveals she initially said no to 'The Handmaid's Tale'

Elisabeth almost did not make it to The Handmaid's Tale.

The 42-year-old actress has won two Emmy Awards for her portrayal of June Osborne was initially reluctant on signing up to dedicate "five or six" years to another show after her eight-year-long commitment to Mad Men.

During her latest appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Elisabeth admitted, "I'm so glad I [took it], obviously. Thank God that worked out the right way.”

The Shining Girls star continued, "I wasn't quite sure if I was ready to make that commitment again, so I actually passed the first time they offered it to me.”

"I know, it seems insane now. I'm so glad I've corrected that. Then they came back, and they very nicely offered it again, blah, blah, blah,” she added.

Elisabeth also candidly revealed that she changed her mind and decided to take on the role when she was told which actress was going to be offered instead of her then.

"Then the thing that clinched it was... they leaked it to me who they were going to offer it to if I didn't take it, and I was like, 'Over my dead body,’” she said.

"It was the thing that made realize that I needed to do it,” the 42-year-old actress mentioned.

"I couldn't stand the idea of anyone else playing that role, you know what I mean? That was the thing that made me realize how badly I wanted to do it,” Elisabeth Moss concluded, without revealing the name of the actress who was being discussed in the conversation.
