Nicola Peltz has reportedly been ordered to appear in court as part of a lawsuit she filed following the death of her dog, Nala, after a grooming session in a mobile van operated by HoundSpa in New York.
As per Daily Mail, the incident occurred earlier this year when Nala, Peltz’s pet chihuahua, became critically ill after a routine grooming appointment.
Despite being rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic, the dog later passed away.
Medical records indicated fluid in her lungs, neurological issues, and an elevated heart rate, though the exact cause of death remains unclear.
In response, Peltz filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Westchester County, alleging negligence and abuse by the groomer, Jony Ceballos, as per the outlet.
According to documents obtained by InTouch Weekly, the court has now requested Peltz’s presence for a deposition, which must be completed before October 30. The groomer has denied all allegations.
The lawsuit also targets HoundSpa owner Deborah “Deb” Gittleman, accusing her of negligence for retaining Ceballos despite alleged prior complaints about his behavior towards animals.
TMZ reports that Peltz claimed her dog was left in “severe physical distress” following the grooming and that she suffered emotional trauma from witnessing Nala's death.
She also alleges that her other dog, Angel, now exhibits signs of anxiety and terror when left alone, particularly after grooming sessions.
As part of the legal proceedings, Peltz may be required to authorize the release of Nala’s medical records, according to the publication's claims.
Furthermore, the court case unfolds amid ongoing reports of a family rift between Peltz and her in-laws, David and Victoria Beckham.
It is pertinent to mention that the tensions have reportedly intensified, with Nicola and her husband, Brooklyn Beckham, skipping recent family gatherings, including David’s 50th birthday celebration.
