Duchess Sophie is set to take on more royal duties as the number of working royals has gone down after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s exit and Prince Andrew no longer a working royal.
As per new reports, the Duchess of Edinburgh will be stepping up to help fill the gap as fewer royal available for official events.
While it means that Sophie would not be able to spend much time with her 94-year-old father, Chris Rhys-Jones, sources say he’s proud of his daughter.
According to The Sun, Rhys-Jones is delighted to see his daughter taking on a bigger role in the Royal family.
“Undoubtedly she is going to play an important role in the future,” a source told the publication.
Prince William “feels that Edward and Sophie are need- ed. The important work that they do is seen,” they added.
A royal expert, Chris Ship, also said, “She does some fantastic work in the Middle East, in Africa, helping children who are suffering from potential blindness in adulthood.
"So yes, she could do a lot more and I think she is a real asset,” he added.
“I think it’s beholden on Buckingham Palace to put her out there more if that’s what she wants to do.”
