Jennifer Lopez left her fans stunned as she dropped six unreleased songs during a surprise listening party with 30 handpicked fans in Los Angeles on July 2.
The intimate event which was kept secret until guests were in the room with Ben Affleck’s ex-wife featured five new tracks and one emotional ballad, Wreckage of You.
According to Lopez, she made the songs following a difficult year marked by personal and professional setbacks, including her divorce from Affleck and the cancellation of her tour.
Speaking with Us Weekly, a source shared, “Outreach to fans started on Tuesday, but it was all kept a surprise as to what was happening until they were in the room with Jennifer.”
Attendee Edgardo Luis Rivera shared with the publication, “‘Wreckage of You’ is a pop ballad that she told us she cowrote and recorded two weeks ago.”
“She said she was lying in bed after a long day of tour rehearsals when the idea of the song came to her,” Rivera added. “She mentioned how last year was a very difficult time for her both personally and professionally.”
“She had to cancel her tour and really focus on herself. Fast-forward to one year later, and she feels better and stronger than ever, so she wanted to write a song about coming out of a bad situation much stronger.”
They further added how JLo “kept thinking of the word ‘wreck’ because it means destruction, but she wasn’t destroyed.”
“In fact, the lyrics of the song are, ‘I’m stronger after the wreckage of you.'”
The four of the five songs include Up All Night, Regular, Free, Save Me Tonight, and Birthday.
As per the report, the songs will be part of her upcoming world tour, along with JLo biggest hits and fan favorites like her 2001 track Play.
