Mary Cosby, star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, is mourning the loss of her son, Robert Cosby Jr., who passed away at the age of 23.
Authorities confirmed to Page Six that Robert was found dead on February 23 after police responded to an overdose call that escalated into a death investigation.
Mary released a heartfelt statement shortly after the news broke.
“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow,” she said in a statement to TMZ.
Bravo executive Andy Cohen also expressed condolences on Instagram Threads.
He called the news “devastatingly sad” and “every parent’s worst nightmare.”
Robert’s struggles with substance abuse were documented on RHOSLC, including his time in rehab and subsequent relapse.
His personal challenges extended into legal troubles including violating a restraining order connected to his estranged wife, Alexiana Smokoff, who filed for divorce last November.
Robert was released from jail earlier this month after serving two months.
His lawyer told People that Robert had “expressed deep regret regarding his prior actions and acknowledges that his past behavior demonstrates poor judgment.”
Mary previously spoke candidly about her son’s struggles during the Season 6 reunion.
She revealed that while she refused to visit him in jail, they spoke daily on the phone.
Robert’s death came just weeks after his release.
