Bilawal Bhutto's Liechtenstein wedding buzz takes social media by storm

Reports have emerged suggesting that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari may be engaged in Europe, with unverified claims linking his reported fiancée to Liechtenstein.

According to the reports, Bilawal's purported fiancée is from Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein. Sources also claimed that President Asif Ali Zardari had travelled to the country with other family members to discuss and set a date for his son's wedding.

The reports further claimed that Bilawal's wedding could take place towards the end of this year.

However, the claims have been rejected by the PPP.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, who also serves as a spokesperson for Bilawal, said on social media that reports about the PPP chairman's engagement or marriage were “incorrect and unfounded”.

There has been no official announcement from Bilawal or his family confirming an engagement, meaning the reported development remains unverified.

Liechtenstein is a small sovereign state in Western Europe, located between Switzerland and Austria. Its capital, Vaduz, is the country's political and administrative centre.

Bilawal has previously spoken publicly about marriage without revealing details about a potential spouse or wedding date.

During the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly in 2022, a journalist asked Bilawal about his marriage plans. Smiling, the then foreign minister replied, “Of course, I have plans to marry,” but did not provide further details when asked when he intended to tie the knot.

Bilawal had also spoken about the subject in 2016, saying his future bride would first have to “win over the hearts” of his sisters.

“The right candidate will first have to win over the hearts of my sisters. I have to take them into confidence. And winning over the hearts of my sisters is a very difficult task for any girl,” he had said.
