Prince Harry faces new threat as security decision hangs in balance

Prince Harry is currently in a fight to get police protection for him and his family as they begin their new chapter in UK.

Harry and Meghan Markle’s two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will be starting school soon and there is already a major issue regarding school runs.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Birmingham last week for their “extensive” stay in the country and are understood to be staying in a private residence in Cotswold. There is an ongoing debate about whether the Sussexes should receive taxpayer-funded protection or not.

However, former Home Office minister Mike Tapp has highlighted a much bigger issue that the monarch’s son faces in light of delay from RAVEC – the committee is understood to be assessing the latest Risk Management Board report.

“I would urge them to make a prompt decision on this. It has to be independent, and it has to look at the evidence,” Mike told GB News’s Cameron Walker, indicating a serious concern.

He explained that with Archie and Lilibet starting school, the family will be “setting patterns” of their routine, which would also include leisure and social gatherings. This “increases” the threat further, hence the decision has to be “prompt”.

Moreover, there is also no denying that Harry, despite not being a working royal, is still King Charles’s younger son and a former veteran of the British army. It is an “enduring threat” and does put a target on his back.

“He’s the son of the king. He’s one of the most recognisable faces in the world. And of course, he's a high-profile veteran,” he said. “So, all these things need to be considered carefully so that when there’s a decision, and if that decision is to not provide him with security, it has to stand up to scrutiny.”
