Why did Greenville police detain Hayden Panettiere's boyfriend, Brian Hickerson?

Hayden Panettiere’s boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, was detained by Greenville police after an alleged altercation at a South Carolina restaurant on September 12, 2026.

The 36-year-old actress, who starred in Heroes and Nashville was discovered unresponsive at her home in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16.

Now the Greenville Police Department has released details about the arrest of Zach and detainment of his brother Brian Hickerson.

“Brian Hickerson and his brother, Zach Hickerson, were among several individuals involved in an altercation” at the Wild Wing Café on September 12, with multiple patrons detained while the incident was investigated,” the statement reads, released by the Greenville Police Department on September 13, 2026.

After receiving reports of a scuffle, the officers rushed to the restaurant around 9:10 p.m. “in reference to a reported assault inside the restaurant.”

The police officers during their initial interrogation found Zach Hickerson with signs of high intoxication.

After he started yelling at the officers, he was taken into custody for “disorderly conduct” and shifted to the Greenville County Detention Center.

However, he was later released after posting a surety bond of $257.

Although Brian Hickerson’s name is redacted from the report, Greenville police confirmed on Sunday, September 13, he was accompanied by his brother at the time and was detained.

Brian Hickerson was freed and was not charged.

The incident took place almost a month after 36-year-old actress Panettiere died on August 16 at her apartment located in Greenville, South Carolina.
