Comedian Carrot Top, a.k.a. Scott Christopher Thompson, has been taken to the hospital following a reported suicide attempt.
The 61-year-old comedian was shifted to a Las Vegas hospital just hours before he was set to perform at the Luxor hotel on Friday night.
Thompson representative Jami Schlicher shared a statement that reads, “Thompson is recovering in the hospital and is receiving the care and support he needs. His family and those closest to him are deeply grateful for the concern, prayers and respectfully ask for privacy,” perTMZ which first reported on the incident.
Though Schlicher didn’t detail as to what led to the comedian being hospitalised.
Carrot Top is a stand-up comedian best known for his use of props in his routine.
He rose to prominence through Comic Strip Live in the early 1990s and also appeared on the talent show, Star Search.
In 2003, he filmed the buzzing comedy special Carrot Top Rocks Las Vegas at the MGM in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He had also appeared in a guest-starring role on the HBO series Hacks in 2024.
Thompson, who curved out his mark through over-the-top comedy and distinctive hairstyles, has been a long-time performer in Las Vegas.
