Mary Beth Barone 'hard launches' Joe Alwyn with a twist

Mary Beth Barone and Joe Alwyn weren’t exactly flying under the radar.

After the pair were spotted strolling across the Williamsburg Bridge and hopping bars in New York City earlier this month, romance rumours immediately took off.

Taylor Swift’s ex and the Overcompensating comedian looked a little too comfortable together for it to be “just friends.”

Turns out, the chemistry had a different origin story. On Tuesday, September 22, Barone finally “hard launched” Alwyn with a twist.

In an Instagram post celebrating their new project, she cheekily captioned a carousel of them together, “Hard launching this project.”

The big reveal? The two are co-starring in Still We Met, an original rom-com that Barone wrote and will star in opposite Alwyn, loosely inspired by her own experiences.

What looked like a budding romance was actually the beginning of a work relationship and the perfect setup for a movie about a night wandering New York with a charming British stranger.

For the unversed, the two were photographed together on September 17 while wandering around the bridge and stopping at local bars, looking decidedly comfortable in each other’s company. 

Naturally, the candid snaps quickly sparked speculation that something romantic might be brewing between them.

However, now the photos turned out to have a much more Hollywood explanation.
