Prince Edward lands in New York after busy day of Scottish engagements

The Duke of Edinburgh has arrived in the United States, beginning his visit after travelling overnight from the UK.

According to the Court Circular, Prince Edward departed from Heathrow Airport on the evening of September 27 before arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, where he was formally received.

The Duke’s US trip comes after a busy day of engagements in Aberdeenshire.

On September 28, he visited Balmedie Leisure Centre on Eigie Road in Balmedie, where he was received by the Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire, Mr Alexander Manson.

Prince Edward later travelled to Haddo House in Tarves, near Ellon, where he visited in his role as Patron of the Haddo House Choral and Operatic Society.

Meanwhile, the Duchess of Edinburgh will attend the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN) Forum, The Hague.
