Taylor Swift fans decode links to 'Reputation' in 'Patient Zero' video

Taylor Swift just premiered the Patient Zero music video at the MTV VMAs, and Swifties have already started coming up with the theories.

The 36-year-old pop superstar spoke about how she took the inspiration for her video from different literary and cinematic genres, but Swifties believe a lot of it ties back to her 2017 album, Reputation, and her relationship with Joe Alwyn at the time.

Fans found direct parallels between many scenes from the video to earlier videos, including the Delicate music video which features a scene of Swift laying atop of a car, eerily similar to one in the new music video.

Swifties flocked to social media to share their theories, with one writing, "I love how the flashback was all in gold (the color she used to reference Joe) and then slowly the color started leaving the frames till there was no color left in her face. And Collin was always dressed in cool tones (like a rock) while Taylor slowly faded from golden to silver and lack of color. She even took the color out of her face in the sick scene."

Another added, "'You must like me for me' to 'i thought you were different' this definitely has layers to it."

A third chimed in, "Did anybody else clock the fight across the dining room table? Made me think of the tolerate it performance and feels like a nod to yeah all of THIS has been quietly alluded to for years."

While one wrote, "patient zero music video has me frantically revisiting previous albums."
