Sindhi Ajrak, Topi day celebrated in Dalllas
DALLAS: The Sindhi Association of North America (SANA) celebrated the “Sindhi Ajrak and Topi Day” in Dallas with zeal and fervor.

The event was attended by Former Mayor City of Paris Texas Dr. Arjumand Hashmi, SANA’s central President Jamil Dawoodi, Republican and Democratic Party representatives, Chamber of Commerce officials and a large number of community leaders ,activists and people from all walks of life.

The event was attended by men, women of all ages. The host of the event and SANA North Texas President Moazzam Bhangar welcomed the local Sindhi community and other Pakistani community members, for their participation in this joyous occasion.

Sana’s central President Jamil Dawoodi and Moazzam Bhangar presented ajrak to Ex. Mayor of pairs Texas Arjumand Hashmi, Muslim Democratic Caucus Co-Chair. Syed Fayyaz Hassan, senior journalist Raja Zahid Khanzada, Asian American Chamber of Commerce and PSNT ex President Barkat Basaria.

SANA President Jamil Dawoodi said on his speach that it is nice to see that the whole community gathered to celebrate this special and joyous occasion of Sindhi culture.

He said that SANA is an old organization and for last 30 years it is serving communities all over North America.

He said that it is a non-political association and has promoted several welfare projects in Pakistan. He said:“Punjabi, Pashtun, Baloch and Urdu speaking are all our brothers and we don’t discriminate against anyone”.

He said that like everyone takes pride in own culture and traditions and “we are also proud to represent our five thousand years of traditions”

He said that “We respect all other nationalities in Pakistan and have no prejudice against anyone”. Showing his concern on discrimination against Sindhi community in Pakistan, he said that the frequent disappearance of Sindhi youth and appearance of their mutilated dead bodies will not be tolerated.

SANA’s General Secretary Noor un Nisa Ghangro while addressing the gathering said that the maltreatment against Sindh and Baluchistan’ activists, who are raising voices against human rights abuses is unacceptable.


“If someone commits a crime then he should be brought to justice and court should decide if that person is innocent or guilty,” he added.

Men women and children were dressed in traditional Ajrak and festive dresses at the occasion to promote Sindhi culture, while men were wearing Ajrak, and topi signifying the day.

A visiting standup comedian Parvez Siddiqui presented his performance which brought lots of laughter in the hall.

Local vocalist Inam Ul Haque presented national and folk songs which everyone enjoyed. A few families were also visiting from Houston to attend this event.

All men, women and children thoroughly enjoyed the program which ended on famous folk of Ho Jamalo, on which participants danced and expressed their love for the traditions. T

The program hosts Moazzam Bhangar and Hina Bhangar thanked everyone for participating in the event.

Umeed Ali Laghari represented World Sindhi Congress on the occasion. A prominent radio talk show host Dr. Mona Kazim Shah read a special message from Mir Mohammad Ali Talpur.
