Banks kept open for payment of salaries to LHW
ISLAMABAD: The banks despite Saturday being holiday remained open across the country for the payment of the salaries to the lady health workers (LHW) on the orders of the Supreme Court, Geo News reported.

Over one lac of lady health workers were affected due to transfer of powers to the provinces as a result of the 18th Amendment in the constitution of Pakistan and the payment of their salaries had become a sore problem.

The Supreme Court coming to the rescue of the LHW ordered for payment of their salaries before Eid by all means. The court was informed that funds for disbursement of salaries to LHW has been transferred to the provinces by the federation. Thereafter, the court ordered to get the banks opened even on Saturday for payment of the salaries to LHW.

Incompliance of the court order, National Bank branches were opened today. Aabpara branch here was opened this morning at scheduled time, but no lady health worker came over there for taking the salary. Bank staff said that no such salaries account exist in this branch, but still the branch was kept open on the orders of the court order and the bank management
