Sheep are healthy, says Australian HC

KARACHI: Australian High Commissioner in Pakistan, Peter Hayward confirmed on Saturday that the disease called 'escapee mouth' is common in Australian sheep but the ones brought to Pakistan are not suffering from it, Geo News reported.

On the occasion of his visit to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Peter Hayward said that the Australian ship that had been to Qatar and Oman to down-port these sheep but he could not tell the reason why it did not happen.

The disease was not the reason for not off-loading the sheep in Bahrain but it could be a commercial issue, he added.

To a question, the Australian High Commissioner replied that he has not seen the sheep himself but according to the official documents handed over to him the sheep are healthy.
