ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has appointed Engineer Shaukatullah as new governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Geo News reported.
Shaukatullah, who replaces outgoing governor, Barrister Masood Kausar, will take oath tomorrow.
According to Prime Minister House spokesman, the president has ordered the new appointment on the advice of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
The Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court will administer oath to Shaukatullah.
According to sources, the decision has been taken owing to health concerns of Barrister Kausar. It must be mentioned here that Barrister Kausar has not been feeling well for a while now and had also collapsed during an event lately.
The incoming governor Engineer Shaukatullah, who comes from Nawagai, located in Bajaur agency, was elected as a member of the National Assembly from NA-43.
The outgoing governor Barrister Kausar had assumed office on Feb 8, 2011 ending the 3-year tenure of his predecessor Owais Ahmad Ghani.
