LAHORE: The Christian community held a protest demonstration on Sunday against the ransacking and burning of their homes in Joseph Colony in the Badami Bagh area.
Protestors chanted slogans against the provincial government, administration and police. Traffic was also blocked on Ferozepur road. Protestors pelted the Metro buses and police with stones. Police resorted to aerial firing and baton charging to disperse the protestors.
Protests were also held in several cities across Pakistan including Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi.
On March 9, over 100 homes of the Christian community were ransacked and set on fire by an angry over alleged blasphemy committed by Sawan Masih.
Meanwhile over 100 people allegedly involved in the incident had been arrested from different areas of Lahore. According to DIG Operations Rai Tahir, more raids will be conducted to arrest others involved.
