Imran Khan claims LB polls were more rigged than 2013 elections

ISLAMABAD: Two days after the party’s dismal performance in the third and final phase of Local Bodies polls in Sindh and Punjab, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday claimed that LG polls were more rigged that the 2013 general elections.

Speaking to the media after chairing a party meeting here, Khan however admitted shortcomings on part of the party in the elections, saying the PTI was holding new intra-party elections by learning from the past mistakes.

According to unofficial results, the PTI could manage to get just 21 seats and the ruling PML-N pocketed as many as 111 local bodies seats from Rawalpindi district despite, losing the two NA seats in 2013 elections (first to PTI and the second to Sheikh Rashid Ahmad).

PTI’s rout in Karachi and then in Punjab, particularly in Rawalpindi, has reportedly disturbed the top party leadership.

“PTI is extremely perturbed over its extremely poor show in Rawalpindi, a symbolic power house and this is indigestible for Imran,” conceded a central leader while talking to The News on Sunday.
