LAHORE: The newly elected Punjab Assembly would elect its speaker on June 3 while the opposition has submitted the nomination papers of its candidates, however, the largest party Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is yet to decide its candidates, Geo News reported Saturday.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had unveiled the names of their joint candidates for speaker and deputy speakers slot shortly after the house announced the schedule of the election.
The PTI has designated Raja Rashid Hafeez for the speaker post and PML-Q nominated Sardar Waqas Hasan for deputy speaker designation in Punjab Assembly.
The ruling party in-waiting PML-N has not yet finalized anyone for the speaker and deputy speaker seats in Punjab legislature. However, the sources revealed the names of Rana Sanaullah for Speaker and Nadeem Kamran for Deputy Speaker as strongest contenders.
