Violent protest against load shedding in Bannu
BANNU: A protest against load shedding took place in Bannu where the agitated crowd stormed the Wapda Colony and burnt the record of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) Monday morning, Geo News reported.

According to sources, the crowd infuriated over the incessant load shedding in Bannu surrounded the Wapda Colony on Bannu-Dera Ismail Khan Road and pelted stones on the houses and damaged properties.

Some armed men who were also part of the protest continued aerial firing during the demonstration.

Police force seemed helpless at the hands of the protesters and could not disperse the violent crowd.

The demonstrators also attacked the Pesco circle office in the colony and set the record on fire.

On the other hand, the Pesco spokesman claimed that the people got infuriated over removing the illegal connections by the authority and not on the load shedding.

He further told that 97% of electricity theft occurred from one feeder in Bannu, leading to disconnection of the illegal connection over non-payment.
