PESHAWAR: The Meteorological Department Friday forecast scattered rain with thundershowers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Upper Punjab during next 24 hours that will hopefully bring the temperature down.

According to the spokesman of Met Office here, rain with thunderstorm is expected in Kashmir, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Kalat and Makran divisions due to seasonal low lies over Northwest Balochistan and adjoining areas whereas monsoon currents are penetrating into upper and central parts of the country.

He said rain at isolated places of Nasirabad, Sibbi and Gilgit-Baltistan while heavy rainfall in Kashmir, Northeast Punjab and Kalat divisions is also predicted in next 24 hours.

The weather of Abbottabad, DI Khan, Mardan, Parachinar, Peshawar and Nowshera will remain partly cloudy with chances of rain with thundershowers during the said period.

In next 48 hours, he said rain-thundershower is expected at isolated places of Kashmir, Islamabad, Upper Punjab( Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore divisions) KP, Northeast Balochistan, Sindh and South Punjab. Scattered rain-thundershower occurred in Punjab, KP, Kashmir and Northeast Balochistan.

Maximum 73 mm rain was received by Kotli followed by Murree 71, Sialkot (Cantt), Gujranwala, Garhi Dupatta 70, Rawalakot 55, Dir 47, Saidu Sharif 43, Malamjabba 38, Sialkot (A/P) 33, Kakul 31, Joharabad 26, Islamabad (Saidpur) 23, Khuzdar, Sibbi 19, Gujrat 16, Mandibahaudin 15, Islamabad (Golra) 14, Lasbella 12, Lower Dir 09, Islamabad (Z/P), Noorpur Thal 8, Lahore (A/P), Astore, Islamabad (Bokra) 7, Parachinar 05, Bannu, Jhelum, Kalam, Mirkhani, Sargodha 4, Balakot, Rawalpindi( Shamsabad) 3, Bahawalpur, Chitral 2, Peshawar (A/P), Mangla and Hunza 1 mm in last 24 hours.

Dalbandin with 45 C remained the hottest place followed by Chillas 43 C whereas pollen count yesterday remained 325/m3.

The recent monsoon rain in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has turned the weather pleasant and provided some respite to residents of Peshawar from the oppressive weather.
