KPK: PTI lawmaker disqualified over fake degree

PESHAWAR: An election tribunal on Wednesday disqualified a provincial Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provincial legislator Ikramullah Gandapur for possessing fake degree.

Mr. Gandapur was serving as the provincial agricultural minister in the PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) government.

He was elected from PK-67 after the assassination of his brother, Israrullah Gandapur, in
by-polls.

Two of his opponents and rival candidates had challenged Ikramullah Gandapur’s degree in an election tribunal, after which the tribunal declared his degree fake and disqualified him.

The tribunal has further asked Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold by-polls in the PK-67 provincial constituency after the disqualification of Ikramullah Gandapur.
