Geo News satellite engineer Arshad Jafri laid to rest
KARACHI: The funeral prayers of satellite engineer Arshad Jafri, who was killed in an armed attack on Geo News Digital Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) van in the Bahadurabad, has been offered in Malir.

The funeral prayers were held at Al-Zuhra Garden in Malir 15. He was laid to rest in the Model Town graveyard.

Arshad Ali Jafri and DSNG driver Anees were injured in the attack and rushed to a local hospital for treatment, where Jafri succumbed to his injuries while the driver is said to be in stable condition.

DIG East Munir Sheikh said three gunmen riding a motorcycle attacked the DSNG van. Police have recovered 9MM bullet shells from the site and the DIG added all three attackers were wearing shalwar kameez. He also said that raids would be conducted overnight to arrest the attackers.

Police in Karachi said Wednesday that the weapon used in a fatal attack on a Geo News DSNG van was the same used in recent target-killings of traffic policemen in the city.

Police officials told Geo News on Wednesday an initial forensic report has been prepared according to which the bullet casings found from the scene of the shooting are believed to come from the same 9mm pistol that was used in the recent killing of four police personnel in Saddar, Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Gulbai areas of Karachi.
