Director and writer David Freyne said his new romantic comedy ''Eternity'' is a celebration of love at the film's world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Sunday (September 7).

The plot revolves around Elizabeth Olsen’s character Joan who, after dying, has to decide who she wants to spend eternity with - her first husband, who died years before or her second husband who she spent most of her life with.

Husband two, Larry, is played by Miles Teller, while Callum Turner is her first husband Luke.

''It's a film that celebrates love in its many forms....and I think I most of all, I want people to laugh because I love making people laugh and maybe cry and feel joy,'' Freyne said on the red carpet.

Turner said it was Freyne's script that initially drew him to the role, describing it as ''beautiful'' and ''touching.''

Meanwhile Teller said that they all had a ''blast on set'': ''It was like we're just cracking up the whole time, it was one of the easiest films I've ever made as far as just, it was just pretty seamless. Everything seemed to kind of work,'' he said.

''Eternity'' is set for release in the US on November 26.
