Oscar winning director Guillermo del Toro brought his new movie Frankenstein to the Toronto Film Festival on Monday (September 8) saying this is a film he dreamed of making.
Del Toro directs from his own screenplay, telling the story of Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac), an arrogant scientist who assembles a creature from body parts and brings to life an indestructible, gentle giant (Jacob Elordi).
''This is the movie I dream of making,'' Del Toro said on the red carpet.
''When I was a child, I promised monsters to be faithful to them. And I have. And I've been their friend. And I've told their tales. And this is one more.''
Del Toro's new adaptation of Mary Shelley's classic novel "Frankenstein" portrays a sad, sensitive creature craving affection and knowledge.
''I like the fact that he (del Toro) was not shy to make it his version.... And frankly, all the movies that I've seen don't really do justice or align themselves with the novel,'' said actor Christoph Waltz who plays a wealthy arms dealer in the film.
''Frankenstein'', which also stars Mia Goth, is expected to get a limited release in cinemas in October before going behind the Netflix paywall in November.
