Robin Roberts, the mother of the late Malcolm-Jamal Warner, breaks her silence over his death as she shares details of what happened.
"There was an undertow and my son was not an experienced swimmer. He did not know how to deal with an undertow," she says in an interview with Good Morning America.
The other man, Robin notes, “was a more experienced swimmer, and he was able to rescue himself, but Malcolm was not.”
Malcolm died drowning in the sea in Costa Rica. He was 54.
