4-member team departs for title defence
RIGA: A four-member Pakistan team left for Latvia to take part in the Amateurs World Snooker Championship to be held from 27th November.

Mohammad Asif will defend his title at the event.

Disappointed with the government’s treatment towards the players, the four-member team was optimistic about retaining the championship.

Apart from M.Asif, M.Sajjad, Shahid Aftab and Imran Shehzad are the other members of the team.

M.Asif winner of the event last year in Bulgaria and still waiting for the prize money announced by the government for his exploits was disappointed but confident that he would be able to win the title again.

242 cueists from 51 countries will be taking part in the championship. It is the first time that a four-member team will be representing Pakistan in the event, which will enhance the chances of retaining the title.

Team manager and PBSA’s senior vice president said before the departure that the government’s attitude towards the sport was very disappointing for the players.
