Prominent Afghan figures speed up efforts for Taliban reconciliation
PESHAWAR: Prominent Afghan figures have met heads of different factions of the Afghan Taliban in a bid to resolve their differences which have emerged over the succession of Mullah Muhammad Omar.

Sources said rifts emerged in the militia after Mullah Akhtar Mansur became supreme leader of the militant group.

The sources said names of Mullah Yaqub, a son of Mullah Omar, and Mullah Yakub, a former aviation minister in Taliban regime, emerged for the succession of power after the death of Omar.

Prominent Afghan Islamic scholar Mullah Tarabi has met with both Mullah Akhtar Mansur and Mullah Yakub to resolve their differences.
