ISLAMABAD: PPP leaders met parliamentarians from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Wednesday. According to sources, MQM is seeking the support of the PPP in this difficult time.

During the meeting MQM was represented by Iqbal Muhammad Ali, Shaikh Salauddin and Sajid Ahmed. Representatives from the PPP included Aitzaz Ahsan, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Nadeem Afzal and Chaudhry Manzoor.

When asked if the Peoples Party would support the MQM, Iqbal Muhammad Ali replied they would know this after the session of parliament.

When asked about the MQM’s resolution against its founder, Iqbal Muhammad said a statement regarding this would be premature.

The MQM has been under immense political pressure after an inflammatory and anti-Pakistan speech by the party’s founder which incited party workers to attack media houses in Karachi on August 22.
