Over 0.34 million children to be vaccinated against polio in Badin

BADIN: Over 0.34 million children aged up to five years would be administered polio vaccination during the next round of polio eradication campaign throughout the district.

Polio Eradication officer World Health Organization (WHO) Dr. Sunil Abbas Khuwaja Friday talking to APP informed that polio vaccination drive would be carried out in the last week of September in 46 union councils of five Talukas of district Badin under National Immunization Program.

As many as 843 teams including 703 mobile teams, 74 fixed sites teams and 66 transit points would perform their duties to achieve the targets he told adding that after conclusion of oral polio vaccination (OPV) drive Inactivated Polio Vaccine (IPV) campaign will also be launched to cover 11,0183 children aged between 4 to 23 months.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held here to review arrangements for polio drive with additional deputy commissioner I Ghulam Qadir Junejo in chair.

He said that all available resources were made available to polio vaccination teams for facilitating them to perform their duties efficiently.

Junejo added that parents should also ensure that their children are administered the polio vaccine.
