Umar Akmal, Asad Shafiq recalled for ODI series against West Indies

Batsmen Umar Akmal and Asad Shafiq have been recalled to the Pakistan squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against West Indies in the UAE.

Opener Sami Aslam and fast bowler Umar Gul, who featured in the squad for the England ODIs, failed to make the cut, while veteran batsman Mohammad Hafeez was also dropped over fitness concerns.

Both Shafiq and Akmal last played in ODIs in 2015.

Selectors also placed trust in Rahat Ali and Sohail Khan, both of whom have been included in the ODI squad.

The series’ first ODI is scheduled for September 30 at Sharjah.
