SRINAGAR: Indian aggression at the Line of Control (LoC) has been described by All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) and other Kashmiri leaders as another ploy to divert world attention from state oppression in Occupied Kashmir.

Kashmiri leaders strongly condemned the war euphoria created by Indian leadership and media at the LoC.

A statement issued by the APHC condemned Indian aggression and said unprovoked firing by Indian troops at the LoC had only worsened the situation. According to the APHC, there seemed to be a sustained campaign both on party of the Indian military and media to create a war-like situation in South Asia in an attempt to cover-up war crimes committed by Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir.

The statement further said India wanted to keep the international community in the dark about the situation in Occupied Kashmir and the suffering of the Kashmiri people.

On Thursday, two Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom when Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing across the LoC, ISPR said.

The unprovoked fire was painted as a surgical strike by senior Indian officials, in a move apparently aimed to satisfy the public.

"India conducted a surgical strike at the Line of Control on Thursday to prevent terrorists from attacking Indian soil," said India's DGMO Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh at a press conference in New Delhi, according to Indian media.

Pakistan rebuffed the claims with the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) saying, "There has been no surgical strike by India, instead there had been cross-border fire initiated and conducted by Indian forces which is an existential phenomenon".
