At least four dead, several injured as goods train collides with bus in Kasur

KASUR: At least four people were killed and 19 injured when a goods train collided with a passenger bus near Lunda Phatak in Pattoki early Friday morning, police said.

The accident happened because the Lunda Phatak was open. Seven among the injured were shifted to Lahore's Jinnah Hospital, police said.

Railway authorities have formed a committee to investigate the incident, railway sources said.

Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said the gateman and in-charge have been suspended for neglecting their duties. A case has been registered against the gateman, Mubashar Hussain, and his in-charge and orders for their arrest have been given, he said.

The minister further said a cash amount of one lakh rupees will be given to the families of each of the dead victims. Each of the injured will be given three lakh rupees.  

Following the accident angry protesters burned tires and blocked the railway track.
