Women should play constructive role in their societies, says Hina Bhatti — first ever Pakistani woman to enter in Belgian politics

OOSTENDE: Hina Bhatti, the Pakistani origin politician in Belgium is recently elected as president of Oostende city council large city of western Flanders province.

Interestingly, she is the first Pakistani woman ever in Belgium to hold that high political office.

Bhatti while speaking exclusively with Geo News said that Pakistani women must come forward and participate in politics. They have great space available to become part of decision making.

“Women should positively contribute to whichever society they are in and integrate into it,” she said. “Women should positively contribute in whichever society they are in and should integrate into it.”

She added that women must be respected and their political role must be acknowledged, further adding that it is the responsibility of men to treat them with respect and be proud of their achievements.

“I am really humbled and I am remembering the very first day when I entered politics. I am grateful to the people who showed confidence in my skills by putting their trust.“

Bhatti added that though with education, it is seen that women in the eastern world are now claiming spaces but as far as rural areas are concerned there is still dire need for women to come forward and play their respective roles because at the end of the day they are the best to understand issues of rural women.
